Retrieving Property / Evidence

To retrieve any property, first, determine which agency is storing your property.

Normally, vehicles are stored by the wrecker company that towed the vehicle.

The wrecker companies that the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office has on rotation are:

·  A Plus Towing: 828-692-9100

·  Auto MD: 828-490-0794

·  B and R Towing: 828-489-6630

·  Fletcher Towing: 828-684-6300

·  Hendersonville Towing and Recovery: 828-692-6600

·  North Main Towing and Recovery: 828-674-4233

Evidence is stored by the law enforcement agency that collected the evidence.

In order to retrieve any property collected as evidence, you must obtain a court order signed by a judge allowing this. Please note that a certified copy of a dismissal of charges or a dismissal of domestic violence protective order is not the same as a court order for the release of evidence.

There are several law enforcement agencies in Henderson County. If your property is stored by the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, once a court order signed by a judge is in place, call the evidence and property unit at 828-694-3139 to make an appointment to retrieve your items.

Because very few people have access to evidence and property, an appointment must be made to retrieve items to make sure someone from the evidence unit is available to return items to you.

If your property is stored as evidence by another law enforcement agency, contact that agency for information on retrieving your property.

Items that are not evidence, but are with someone when they are arrested, such as a wallet or keys, are normally stored at the Henderson County Detention Center.

Property is normally released from the Detention Center each Wednesday.

The contact number for the DetentionCenter is: 828.694.3091

Unclaimed Property

Most property that remains unclaimed is sold at auction as prescribed in NC General Status. The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office uses PropertyRoom.com to auction unclaimed property online. The proceeds from these auctions goes to the Henderson County NC Board of Public Education to help fund public schools.

Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kits (SAECKs)

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is extremely proud that there are 0 SAECKs in evidence at our agency waiting to be tested.

Through great efforts by dedicated members of Advent Health, The Safelight Child Advocacy Center, The Blue Ridge Community College Police and Public Safety Department, The Henderson County Sheriff's Office, The Hendersonville Police Department, The Laurel Park Police Department, The North Carolina Justice Academy, Pardee Hospital, SafeLight, and True Ridge, every single case at the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office with an untested SAECK was reviewed and every SAECK needing to be tested has either been tested, or is at a lab being tested now.

In order to see if you SAECK has been tested yet, you can click on the button BELOW and enter the STIMS number (SAECK Tracking and Inventory Management System number) from your SAECK on this website to see the current location and testing status of your SAECK.
